About.

Austin Kwok is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer working primarily between LA and Canada. As a graduate of the American Film Institute and an Affiliate member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers, his recent work on ROOTS was featured on the yearly ARRI Alexa 35 showreel, and his latest short film, My Dad the Rockstar, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

His confidence comes from a deep background of experience in lighting and color science and would rather approach prep like an actor. Making the tools of the trade more accessible to other collaborators with an empathetic mind and clear communication to create specificity in visual ideas and approach. Austin believes in photographing relationships and not neccessarily people and spends just as much effort on creating an environment for others to do their best work as he does his own craft.

He also finds writing in the third person to be a tad silly.
